Welcome to Calabar: City entrance beautification

An experience of Calabar city beautification is felt right from the city entrance, while travelling into the city by road via Calabar-Itu expressway into Murtala Muhammed highway. The beautification includes street lights, pedestrian walkways, landmark, trees, decorated roundabout. these roundabout have unique landmarks of sculptural piece.
lets take a ride to Calabar, this is the first roundabout you will see when approaching the city.
this roundabout is been beautify with a giant round sculpture, built with metal and cement. it has 3 steps cast base, then a metal stanchion to support the round sculpture work. the sculpture work has an inscription " Destination" above, "Cross-river" middle and " The nation paradise" below. The sculpture is painted with blue colour family and white colour for highlighting.

The next interesting landmark on your way into the city is the CITY GATE

It has two giant monument made from concrete on each side of the road. these monument have sculptural work on each four sides of it. these sculptural works tells a brief cultural history of the people of Calabar. Their cultural attire, Ekpe masquerade, cultural dance attire, drummers, farmers, fun loving people etc.
at the side of it has a monumental signage that reads "This is Calabar".

The next roundabout is ACB roundabout

This roundabout is decorated with flowers of different types and colour with lawn. the roundabout has pedestrian walkway round it.

The next roundabout is Zone 6

This has an interesting feature: 4 big stone-like sculptural piece of different height, with carvings of face expression on it. On each side of the stone-like sculpture lies a calabash. The calabash is placed in a position as if it is pouring out content from it. The roundabout is also beautify with shrubs, grass (lawn), lights. It also has a pedestrian walkway round it.

The next roundabout I call it CALABAR CALABAR.

This roundabout is beautify with metal and wrought iron sculpture piece. The metal are been cut and fabricated to form the name CALABAR, which is on both sides to give it the name CALABAR CALABAR. On the name it is been decorated with designs that represent fire works, and of different colours. the roundabout has shrubs, lights.
