Spiral Staircase

Staircase is a way of access (going up or coming down) and it consist of a set of steps. Staircase connects one floor level to another floor level.
We have regular staircase with its conventional construction, but some architects have been able to make staircase a part of the astonishing beauty in the building interior.
 THE LIVING SPIRAL STAIRCASE
This living spiral staircase is what i call the moving garden.

This staircase was designed by Paul Cocksedge for the Ampersand office development in London. This building is a workspace purpose.

The height of the staircase is 12.5m and it connects four floor within a curvilinear atrium. The traditional load bearing pillar that staircase has, was rather replaced with open spaces at different zone for reading, drawing, relaxing, drinking tea, creative thinking.

The entire balustrade has plants on it giving the feeling of walking in a garden. The staircase is constructed with timber and steel. The balustrade also has a handrail by its sides, connected under the rail carrying the plants.

The balustrades are small in diameter and less spacing between each other.

THE FLOATING STAIRCASE:
This staircase was designed by a Dutch designer Marcel Wanders.

The floating staircase is the signature for Mondrian South Beach hotel, Miami. this staircase is a spiral one and not supported by its conventional load bearing pillars. At the point where the staircase curves to make a connection to the next floor level it seems to be floating.

The colour black on the staircase makes it a dominant building element among others which was painted white.

The staircase is made from metal work, with a lace pattern cut, which is attached to the stainless steel handrail.

THE BUBBLE STAIRCASE:
This is a staircase in Grand Hyatt Inchoen hotel. It was design by an international architect design company Gensler. This staircase is not supported by any load bearing pillar. The balustrade is plain glass and it has stainless steel handrail.

There is a chandelier fitted on the pathway of the spiral staircase. This chandelier calls forth emotions bubbles rising from the seabed. ( from the floor base).
