The Futuristic New Delhi Railway Station

The New Delhi railway station is a futuristic design of Arup’s future of rail 2050 report. It is transforming a train station into an “URBAN ICON”. The station will cover 86 hectares.

The picture are computer generated plans and 3ds.

The new train station includes a vast indoor platforms, raised glassed-panelled walkways and futuristic, sweeping white pillars.

The new train station will be covered by a white ceiling and dotted with trees. It will feature18 platforms and will handle in excess of 500,000 rail passengers per day. The report has research into driverless trains and intelligent robots, this would help in building the rail infrastructure, while maintenance on rail lines would be carryout along with drones.

The energy generation is done in two forms. Electricity will be generated from passengers’ footsteps, which will then provide power to the station, while trains will rely on alternative forms of fuel including liquefied natural gas, hydrogen even algae.

Virtual shopping malls will be located in railway stations and even carriages, enabling passengers to buy products from the wall display with mobile devices.
