In Noor Island in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab
Emirate; stands a beautiful golden florally outfitted Butterfly Pavilion.
This magnificent pavilion is one of the example of German
Architectural office 3Deluxe’s Butterfly Pavilion.
Before the construction of the 100meter long fibre glass
bridge well equipped with aluminium balustrade, the Noor Island was only
accessible by boat. The bridge was installed by 3Deluxe to slow down visitors
across the foot bridge and giving them the opportunity to reflect on the
changing views of the island.
The most striking element in this pavilion is the floral façade,
like a space frame. It is made up of 4,000 aluminium petals shimmer across the
pavilion façade. This exoskeletal structure is voluminous form and it is
designed and constructed to rise and fall in a graceful fashion.
The pavilion is 15 feet high with a steel skin that is
finished with glazing. The 3Deluxe Butterfly Pavilion houses 500 rare tropical
species, a shop and café, all in its own, artificial eco-system.
The 3 Deluxe Butterfly Pavilion was inspired the use of
architectural elements, and modern technologies, which resulted in a meditative
space.
