The NewspaperWood is a school project of a female Netherlands
designer Mieke Meijer in 2003. She graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven.
Later Mieke Meijer collaborated with a Dutch design
company Vijs to actualize the design project.
NewspaperWood is made from recycled papers and
cardboards, by rolling up paper, solvent-free glue and plasticisers to a log. It
is then chopped into usable planks. After which the wood is then sealed, to
make it waterproof and flame retardant.
“Everybody knows that you can make paper from wood. But I
thought it would be nice idea to do the opposite and try to make wood from
newspaper say Mieke Meijer”
