All Saints Chapel, Minas Gerais

All Saints Chapel is a religious building located in Minas Gerais, Brazil. A cross-shaped chapel was designed by Gustavo Penna Architects in 2010 and the project was completed in 2010. The project area is 160m².

The structure is a cruciform concrete building, glass walls, a wooden interior, stone and ceiling skylight.

The type of wood used is the Peroba do Campo. This wood is supposed to generate an atmosphere of sheltering, quietude and meditation.

The glass wall was used to allow for transparency and better connection with nature, the sky, the animals, and the ground that surrounds the spot.

The ceiling skylight allows in light from above, emphasises the contrast between the exterior and interior materials. The building has the combination of the vertical lines (which symbolizes the connection between the sky and earth) and horizontal lines (speaks for all men living side by side).

In front of the building, is pool water which aligns with the centre of the cross, “The Baptismal font”. The building is surrounded by green landscape.
